Theme for 2014 was"Peace,Love and Understanding".

This is an annual event run by Lions International for students aged between 11-13 years and is participated in by many thousands of children throughout the world. Each year a different peace theme is chosen and this is to be reflected in the artwork produced by the student. Also each entrant is required to include a statement of no more than 10 words, explaining how their poster relates to the peace theme chosen for that year.

In the local area , 7 primary schools, ranging from St Josephs Bulli to Stanwell Park Public School in the north, are participants. Each school selects their 10 best entries and they are submitted for judging at the McCarthy Centre at St Michael's School;, Thirroul, during the Art and Seaside Festival.10 posters are chosen ( 1st from each school & 3 Highly Commended entries) to proceed to the next round of judging , this being District level. The next round of judging has the task of choosing a single entry which will represent Australia in the final stage.

In 2014 Austinmer /Thirroul Lions we're very pleased that the poster submitted by Blake Douglas, a student of Thirroul Public School, was selected as the Australian representative in the International and final round of judging.

The Lions Club has actively supported the development of the newly formed Thirroul Mens Shed Inc with the granting of $12000 as seed funding to assist in the establishment of permanent facility for that organisation. Funds will be held in trust by the Lions Club until such time as the Mens Shed has obtained appropriate land for its building.
